Myths About Building Lean Muscle
If you are attempting to build muscle you have probably heard of LBM, or lean body mass. Lean body mass is the basic calculation of your weight compared to your fat and your muscle. Most body builders have a high LBM because they have a lot of muscle, little fat, but still a lot of weight. If you are trying to achieve a higher LBM you have probably run across some information that is less then true. Here are a few common mistakes that people make when building lean muscle.
First off, the way you workout has a big effect on the type of muscle you build. Lowering the amount of weight you lift, and increasing the repetitions does not help you achieve a higher LBM. You want to maintain as much muscle as you can when you are working on your LBM. More muscle is a good thing. When you are working out, try to use a lot of weight, and small repetitions. This will help you build muscle, while at the same time burn fat.
If you are building lean muscle you have to workout everyday. This is not true. Our bodies need time to rest. Muscles grow during our rest periods. If you are constantly working out you are not giving your muscles time to grow. Also, the more that you workout the more protein that you will break down. If you workout too much, your body will start taking this protein from your muscles so that it can build energy. Working out too much can actually be harmful.
Eating fat will make you fat. This is not true. In fact, fat can actually aid you in building lean muscle. Fat contains proteins and protein is what is needed to build muscle.
